Tamara and I started off the morning on a strange note. We didn’t have access to our server or network or whatever it is called. After doing some trouble shooting and following cords and cables around the office, we decided that we should stick to writing and not go into IT support.

Lunch followed our technical adventure. After several days of record-breaking temperatures here in Gainesville, it has been a beautiful day in the 70s. So, I decided to take my lunch and enjoy it outside. Well, apparently some of the two-legged, four-legged, and eight-legged creatures less than an inch long also thought that it was a beautiful day. Of course they joined me, so I relocated and ate my lunch in peace.

The afternoon was filled with a little bit of fun from Yelp (please note the sarcasm) and work on our PR media contact list. As I’ve mentioned before, editing this list is one of my main tasks. I work to add information to those entries that are lacking and I weed out entries that do not belong for various reasons. In this work, I get to read about different media outlets and the types of stories that are covered by each type. It is interesting to look at all of the websites for these outlets and compare them based on size and area that they cover. Even in looking at their contact lists, you can see that many news sources are made up of very different teams. Some have one editor and several copywriters and others have no copywriters listed, but have several editors. It was an interesting discovery that I had never given thought to.
