Yes, there is a theme continuing here. I’ve created a pdf version of Meltin’s first blog attempt, and Snowball’s guidance for the new entrepreneur here.
(For those of you who don’t know who Snowball or Meltin is, watch this video.)
One of the reasons I do this “blog” in particular is that often times I’ve seen either really…um, “not interesting” blogs, or I’ve heard from people that say they can’t blog. Either you come across a blog that’s basically a sales pitch, or the business owner will literally stare at a blank paper/screen, clueless as to what to talk about. So, like Snowball says, make it interesting…and talk about what you love within your business! Maybe love is too strong of a word for the working world, but there has to be something about what you do that you really like!
Another option for a starting point or a blog is to talk about your business’ starting point. And people like a good story – it’s okay to talk about your business’ history, as long as you do it in such a manner that it’s interesting and informative. Simply copying and pasting your “About Us” website content into a post is not good blog material. (There are some higher-level concepts for blog-writing that I’m not even touching, like the fact that duplicate content is really, really bad (and boring), and the fact that there is SEO that can happen even within your blog, and…well, the list goes on. I’m just covering basics here.)
But anyhow, I hope Snowball and Meltin’s review of Meltin’s blog will help you with your own blog writing! Enjoy, and have fun writing!
PS – for those of you wondering, Meltin’s Blog pdf was all done on iPad using a free app called Notebook+. Pretty cool, huh?
