Search engine optimization is all about keeping up with the different changes that Google makes throughout the year. Because the whole goal of an SEO is to work with the customer to make their site look highly relevant to the various search engines, it is basically our bread and butter to make sure we understand each update as it comes out.

Step 4: Work down your list, and stay only on the task you are on until you cannot do anything more with it.
Ugh. That’s my response to today’s blog post – ugh. What a difficult, terribly difficult, concept. I still struggle with this one constantly. You have created finally your task or to-do list and prioritized it, but if you can’t stick with it, it becomes meaningless. And by stick with it, I mean that excluding Critical tasks, you must stay on the course of what you prioritized.

The elephant in the room for SEOs for the past several months has been Panda, a Google update which was supposed to punish sites with low-quality content. How the change defined “quality” was hotly contended for quite some time, and then people more or less went quiet. Anymore, Panda is used primarily as a reference point for new updates. And Penguin definitely offers SEOs every opportunity to be compared to Panda.

With Google pressing business owners with new guidelines which seek to penalize “over-optimized” sites, many people are concerned that their existing content may suffer penalization under these new guidelines. However, in most instances, there is no need to be worried. Even still, now might be a good time to do a content audit of your website and see how it stacks up.
